Description
The City of Letojanni informs the public that, on the occasion of the confirmatory referendum pursuant to Article 138 of the Constitution, to be held on Sunday, March 22 and Monday, March 23, 2026, fare reductions will be applied to voters' travel. The provisions, communicated by the Ministry of the Interior in Circular No. 19/2026 of February 18, 2026, concern rail, sea, air, and highway transportation.
Below is a summary of the main benefits available for reaching your municipality where you'll be registered to vote.
Train Travel
Trenitalia SpA, Italo-Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori SpA, and Trenord srl will apply discounted fares for voters.
- Validity: Discounted tickets cover a period of twenty days close to the polling days.
- Outbound travel: Can be made starting March 13, 2026.
- Return journey: Cannot take place later than April 2, 2026.
- Trenitalia Discounts: A 60% discount is available on regional fares and a 70% discount on the base price of national trains, including Frecciarossa and Intercity trains.
- Italo Discounts: A 70% discount on the retail price is available for Smart and Prima environments.
- Trenord discounts: A 60% reduction is available on regional fares for Lombardy and on the fare to Malpensa.
- Documents required on the outward journey: You must show an identification document and your electoral card or a substitute declaration.
- Documents required upon return: You must show your identification document and your electoral card certifying your vote.
Sea Travel
- Discount: Shipping companies will apply a 60% discount on passenger freight charges to voters on the "standard fare" only.
- Participating companies: The companies involved include Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione SpA, GNV SpA, Grimaldi Euromed SpA, Società Navigazione Siciliana ScpA, and NLG Navigazione Libera del Golfo.
Travel by Plane
- ITA Airways Discount: The airline applies a €40 discount for round-trip domestic flights with fares of €41 or more.
- Validity: The offer is valid for flights on the domestic network from March 15 to March 30, 2026.
- Documents: Upon return, you must show your electoral card, duly stamped by the polling station.
Motorway Exemptions for Foreign Residents
- Toll: Italian voters residing abroad are exempt from paying tolls on the entire national motorway network, with the exception of "open" toll collection systems.
- Timing: The exemption is valid from 10:00 PM on the fifth day before the elections until 10:00 PM on the fifth day after the elections.
Further Benefits for Foreign Residents
- Special Refund: Voters residing in countries with which Italy does not maintain diplomatic relations, or where postal voting is not guaranteed, are entitled to a 75% refund of the cost of their travel ticket by submitting a specific request to the consular authority.
